The BIPIN CHANDRA TRIPATHI KUMAON ENGINEERING COLLEGE (Formerly Kumaon Engineering College) (Hindi: विपिन चन्द्र त्रिपाठी कुमाँयू इंजिनीयरिंग कॉलेज) (or BCTKEC) is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in the Ranikhet district in state of Uttarakhand, India. The college was established by the then Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 1986 for imparting engineering education and promoting technological environment in Kumaon region. The college started functioning in 1991. The institute is financed by the government of Uttarakhand and managed by the Board of Governors with the Minister of Technical Education Government of Uttarakhand, as the Chairman and Secretary of Technical Education as Vice-Chairman. Principal is the member Secretary of Board of Governors.

Location

The college is situated in the hilly region of Dwarahat on Kathgodam-Ranikhet-Karnprayag National Highway (87-E), about 30 km. from Ranikhet. The nearest railway station is at Kathgodam (118 km).

The college is spread over an area of 155 acres (0.6 km2) at an altitude of 1450 meters. A quiet, congenial, hilly and pollution free environment with a picturesque view surrounding the campus. The summer is pleasant with a max of 30 °C for a few weeks and for rest of the time, the weather remains cool.

Vipin Chandra Tripati Kumaon Engineering College (formally known as Kumaon Engineering College) is affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University(earlier with Kumaon University Nainital), which imparts technical education to the students. KEC provides degrees in the following disciplines:

Library

The library contains journals, which includes all the books covered by the syllabus, and other technical journals like IEEE and other magazines, varying from computers to human sciences.

The college has a Central Library, which operates on an open access basis. Students and staff members have an access to large number of books and journals, besides large number of competitive and technical magazines. Presently the library is procuring about 14 international journals and 50 national journals.

The library has Library Management Software, called LIBSYS, for library automation. The catalogue data entry work has been completed and the computerized service (i.e. OPAC) and circulation will be implemented soon. The library is an institutional member of DELNET. The library users are licensed to use the DELNET database for their studies, for project work, and for research.
